In the era of ever-evolving information technology, the Internet of Things (IoT) has played a crucial role in developing intelligent solutions to various challenges in everyday life. One area that has received intense attention is waste management, which is becoming increasingly complex with population growth and urbanization, especially in the healthcare sector.
Waste management issues are a significant challenge in healthcare facilities such as clinics, where medical and domestic waste must be properly managed to prevent health risks and environmental pollution. This research aims to design and build an Internet of Things (IoT)-based waste bin monitoring and automation system at the Syaikh Zainuddin NW Anjani Clinic in East Lombok.
Although there are trash bins available based on their types, there is still a tendency for some people to dispose of trash in a way that does not match its classification. This mismatch can cause the trash bin to fill up faster, and when the trash bin has reached its maximum capacity, there is a buildup of trash. Delays in collection by cleaning staff can result in serious environmental problems. The increasing pile of trash can cause unpleasant odors, potentially spread disease, and cause other losses. Therefore, more efficient and responsive waste management measures are needed to overcome this challenge.
